Jonathan Trott: News

When England's Jonathan Trott came into the crease at No.3, there was a clam that engulfed the dressing room because of his unquenchable thirst for runs. He came under the radar of the English public after he scored a double century on his Second XI Championship debut for Warwickshire in 2002. Born in Cape Town to English parents, Trott represented South Africa in both U-15 and U-19 levels before making his switch to England. He made his international debut in a T20I match against the West Indies in 2007. On his Test debut against Australia in 2009, he became the 18th English player to score a century on his Test debut. He was a key player in the Ashes win in 2010-11 with two centuries and England's rise to No.1 ranking in Tests. Watertight technique and unwavering concentration made him England's finest No.3 in a long time. However, he left the team in the middle of the 2013-14 Ashes due to anxiety-related issues. In his biography, Trott attributed this to the increasing problems he had while facing the short ball. Although he made a brief return in 2015, he retired from international cricket in the same year.
